Fire Safety:
Fires are frequently among the hazards encountered when disaster strikes. As a CERT member, you can do a lot to help with fire safety. Some actions that you can take, such as helping with evacuations, directly assist professional firefighters during a disaster. Other actions you can take are equally useful at disaster sites, in your own home, and at your workplace. These include:

Robert was heavily involved in CERT through his positions as newly retired Emergency Management Coordinator for the Town of Lancaster and Public Information Officer. He has been a fire fighter for over 50 years, holding several officer positions including Chief.
Wayne has been a fire fighter and EMT for 28 years and is currently Lieutenant. He is a CPR/First Aid instructor for the County and private instruction.
Both instructors have logged thousands of volunteer hours with the Bowmansville Vol Fire Assn and elsewhere, and have taken numerous courses in firefighting and first aid.

Participants will learn skills to perform Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on adults, children and infants and how to relieve choking in adults, children and infants. Participants will also learn how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Participants will practice these skills individually on their own manikin. This is a free class, and participants will receive an American Heart Association CPR/AED Certification good for 2 years. Participants need to attend 1 class only.
